STORY

Preston Leslie didn't start in an office — he started with a shovel in the ground. His career in the trades began in landscaping, where he developed an instinct for how land and structure relate. That curiosity pushed him deeper into the dirt: excavation, grading, site prep.

From there, concrete taught him precision — mix, form, pour, finish. Pool construction added complexity: engineering, plumbing, tile, decking, the full picture. Every discipline built on the last.

When Preston founded Black Sheep Construction in 2019, he brought it all with him. Today, he leads a licensed general contracting operation covering everything from excavation to turnkey custom homes and pools — always with the same hands-on standard he started with.

Pool construction brought everything together — structural engineering, plumbing, electrical, tile, coping, and decking. Preston learned to orchestrate multiple trades and deliver a single, seamless result.

Armed with cross-trade experience and a Tennessee GC license, Preston launched Black Sheep Construction in Knoxville. The name reflects the mindset: built differently, on purpose.
